Introduction to Verified by VISA – Greater protection when you use your BRED VISA Debit Card online.

At BRED Bank we want to make certain that your internet purchases are as secure as possible, so we have joined forces with VISA to bring you Verified by Visa. One of its objectives is to continue to build consumer confidence in online shopping—similar to that in a physical shopping environment.

Verified by Visa is a free and automatic online security service that has been created to help guard your VISA Debit Card against unauthorised use online. Verified by Visa works by sending a unique online identifier to your registered email address each time your VISA Debit Card is used on the internet with participating online retailers. You then use your Verified by Visa password to validate online transactions. This helps to protect you from unauthorised use of your VISA Debit Card.

What do we need from you?

The Verified by VISA platform will use your registered email address with BRED Bank Fiji to send the password for online transaction every time you use an affiliate online store. How to identify affiliate online store?

You will recognize affiliate online shops with the Verified by Visa logo that appears on their website.

How does Verified by Visa protect me?

Since your card is protected by your Verified by Visa Password, only you can use your VISA Debit Card online. This makes spending online safer than ever before. Without your Verified by Visa password, the purchase cannot take place.

When you will make a purchase on an affiliate online shop, you will do your payment in 2 steps:

  1. First, you enter your card number, expiry date and CVV (the 3 digits on the back of your card).
  2. Then, on a new screen similar to the one below, you enter the code sent by email to your authentication email address.

The email sent on your authentication address will have the following subject: “BRED Bank Fiji security: authentication code to validate your internet payment” and text will be similar to the one below:

Can I spend with online retailers that do not participate in the Verified by Visa service?

Yes. However you will not be able to use Verified by Visa. To complete a purchase with these online retailers, simply follow the regular checkout process.
